# 3.2.4. Setting up website global spacing

Global spacing is important to set it up in the beginning because these settings are present throughout the website. 
To edit these settings, simply go to **Dashboard > Appearance > Customizer > General > Layout**

We suggest editing the following settings: 

* **Content Max Width** - 90rem, defines the **maximum width** of your content area can stretch to, typically on large screens (like desktops).
* **Narrow Width** - 75rem, is used for specific content types, like **blog posts **or pages where **text is the primary focus**.
* **Content Left/Right Edge Spacing** - ensures content doesn’t **touch the screen edges**, especially on mobile, improves **legibility** and **aesthetic spacing, e**ssential for **responsive design** and preventing content from feeling “crammed.” Set them like this: **Desktop **6rem**, Tablet **3rem**, Mobile **1.5rem
* **Content Top and Bottom Spacing** - creates **extra space** between Header, Main Content and Footer. Set them like this: **Desktop **2rem**, Tablet **2rem**, Mobile **1.5rem
